A winter festival, dedicated to Santa Tecla, patron of Sitges

Smaller version of the Fiesta Mayor with less focus on the fireworks display

Music, Fire beasts, processions, Human Towers and Fireworks.
In and around Sitges side streets, Promenade and Church
(listen for the bangs or music)

All one could want for a traditional Sitges Festival!
(remember to wear a hat and covering for the shoulders, as many choose to run through the sparks, once the adrenalin kicks in!)

Friday at five o’clock in the Palau del Rey Moro, rendered the legend of the Giant puppets with Moor and chocolate, and later, wearing Giants Moors. Both events are organized by the Association of dances Sitges.

Yearly week+ festival

“Festa Major de Sitges”. Sitges’ main Annual Fiesta in Honour of “Sant Bartomeu”,

The Town’s Patron Saint. There is an amazing fireworks display on the 23rd, centered around Sitges Church. Watched by many along the beach and also on the water, via a troupe of boats.

A wide range of events and festivals celebrating the Catalan Culture. With:

– Impressive human castles/pyramids (castellers ) Often 6 people high wit a small child at the top

– Giants, capgrossos (carnival figures with big papier-mâché heads)

in the center and all over Sitges town (shopping area/square).

Along with fire-breathing beasts and ancient dances like the diables (devils), bastons (stick dance), gitanes (gypsies), cercolets or moixiganga, among others.

With numerous processions around the town’s streets, a spectacular fireworks display, solemn mass, processions, open-air dancing and sardanes (traditional Catalan dance).

Concentration of Giants and children cabezudos
Concentration Giants and big heads on the street infant Jesus, from the junction with James Street Rusinol. Then Parade to Parc de Can Bóta. Then the Parc de Can Bóta, Exhibition of children’s Dances: Ball Bastons, Panderetes, Shepherds, Cercolets, Cintes, Gitanes and Moixiganga.

Next, representing the Children’s Ball imp. In charge of the Colla de l’Agrupació Balls Populars of Sitges, the Colla Vella and Colla Jove.

Civic Procession
The procession of the tabernacle of Santa Tecla, consisting of dances, image, traditional musicians and Music Association Suburband Retreat will focus on the domicile of the pendonista, Mrs. Carmen Merlos Mediavilla, where collected store Santa Tecla and shall be forwarded to the Parish Church.

Morning Child
With the participation of children in Sitges, representing dances and interludes of our villa. Upon arrival there will be breakfast for all children who participated in the parade.

There will be two parallel paths:

At 7am, from the junction of the C / Davallada with C / Barcelona, Child Morning outlet Grande. Older participants made the following route: Fonollar, Baluard, Vidal Quadras i, Port of n’Alegre, Rafel Llopart, Damiá Sant, Sant Sebastia, Jesus, Sant Bartomeu, Gaudenci Sant, Sant Josep, Bonaire, Passeig la Ribera (playing sea) to the frigate.

At 7:30 am, from the Plaça de l’City Council, out of Little Kids Morning, younger children will do the following route: Plaça de l’City Council, d’En Bosch, Davallada, Barcelona, Angel Life Cap Vila, Parellades, Sant Pere, Passeig de la Ribera (on the side of the mountain) to the frigate.

Procession in Honor of Santa Tecla
Opens the religious procession “It ganfaró” parish led by the Corps of bearers of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla. The giants, beasts and dances with his musicians, opened the procession, chairman of the rector of the parish, Mn.Pauses Josep Mas, and the Illustrious Ayuntamiento, and closed l’Asociació Musical Suburband Retiro.
The route is as follows: Baluard, Plaça de l’City Council, d’en Bosch, Davallada, Barcelona, Santiago Rusinol Jesus, Sant Bartomeu, Gaudenci Sant, Sant Francesc, Cap de la Vila, Parellades, Bonaire, Passeig de la Ribera , Nou, Major, Plaça de l’City Council and Baluard.

When religious procession passing along the Passeig de la Ribera, the patron of the Villa will be greeted with volleys of mortars and ringing of bells.

Entrance of Santa Tecla and Final Dance
The dances and the musicians receive the image of the co-patron and will honor when you enter the church, amid fireworks and bells. Inside the temple, reading the prayer “Us have mirat Resume”. Then, in the Plaça de l’City Council will be the last of the Drac and’l’Àliga lit and the last dance of Giants.

When finished, Weekend party at the Palau del Rei Moro. Event organized by l’Agrupació Balls Populars of Sitges.
