Description

The streets are carpeted in 220,000 to 360,000 Carnation flower petals, all placed after dawn. By the local community, neighbors side by side, and organised groups.

Corpus Christi falls on Thursday June 7, 2012

SATURDAY 9th June 2012

• 18hrs/6pm Giants : Cap de la Vila
• 19.30hrs/7.30pm Flower efforts begin (deliveries/sketching roads)
• Into the night :Designs arecreated and completed

SUNDAY 10th June 2012

• During the afternnon: Judging occurs
• 20hrs/8pm : Procession from Town Hall to the Church.

A traditional festival of National Artistic Interest for Spain

Organized by Foment de Turisme de Sitges (Sitges Tourism Promotion):

• The floral carpets(often 360,000 red, yellow, white and red carnations)
  • They lie on a bed of grass and other materials, like com pine bark, cypress branches, broom tree, rice shells of coffee beans. The honour of carpeteting Cap de la Vila Square is made by one of Sitges different associations each year, as the central stage for the religious events.

The traditional ‘Egg Dance’ in the courtyard of the Palau Maricel.
An egg dance is a traditional Easter game in which eggs are laid on the ground or floor and the goal is to dance among them damaging as few as possible (more!).
